
The National Weather Service is predicting a magnitude 6.0 earthquake near Portland, Oregon, this morning, according to a forecast update issued by the National Weather Forecast Center.
The forecast for the quake’s magnitude and duration was updated at 4:45 a.m. local time (2:45 p.m., Eastern time) from a magnitude of 6.1.
The quake is located at a depth of about 6 miles (11 kilometers), according to the weather center, and a magnitude 4.0 quake could cause a tsunami.
