The Civil Engineering Corporation (CEC) on Monday said its engineering division had completed the design of a $2 billion supercar.
The Rs 3,500 crore project, which is one of several mega-projects in the pipeline, was conceived as a means of improving the efficiency of road traffic, with the aim of reducing accidents and injuries in the country’s traffic, the CEC said.
“This project is expected to create an additional capacity of around 20 lakh people a year,” it said in a statement.
“We are confident of achieving the ambitious targets of reducing traffic accidents and the associated health and environmental impacts, and reducing the CO2 emission from the country,” the statement said.
It added that the CCE’s engineers will be awarded Rs 500 crore as incentive to develop the project.
The project has been in the works for nearly five years and is expected for completion by the end of 2019.
It was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May.
