Civil engineers and engineers are often considered a profession with a high standard of competence and quality, and a high pay.
But a recent survey from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) found that the public generally views civil engineers as being less qualified than engineers.
The survey found that of the 2,500 respondents who said they had studied engineering at least some of their career, only 36 percent of them said they thought civil engineers were equally qualified.
More than half of respondents (53 percent) said they didn’t know what a civil engineer is.
